BETA ALIAlaunch date, fares and status

The runway-based ALIA CX300 closed the FAA requirements-definition phase in Q2 2026, and BETA is preparing for type-inspection flight testing; in July 2026 it flew the first missions under the federal eIPP program, carrying manufactured organs for United Therapeutics. The vertical-takeoff A250 follows the CX300 through certification and flew a VTOL demonstration over Burlington, Vermont in June 2026.

Certifying: in formal certification.

This aircraft won't be sold to individuals; you'll book a seat with an operator once service starts.

There is no passenger service to book: operators such as Bristow and Republic Airways plan to fly BETA aircraft in the eIPP program before certification, starting with cargo and medical missions, with passengers later.

Key facts

  • BETA listed on the NYSE (ticker BETA) in November 2025; its IPO priced at $34 a share, above the range, and raised about $1 billion.
  • In June 2025 a CX300 flew four passengers and a pilot about 70 nautical miles from East Hampton to New York's JFK, described in coverage as the first electric aircraft flight into one of the New York area's three major airports.
  • First company to fly missions under the federal eIPP: a roughly 275-nautical-mile organ-delivery relay across Virginia and Maryland for United Therapeutics in July 2026.
  • Named customers include UPS, United Therapeutics, Air New Zealand and Bristow; Loganair signed a term sheet at Farnborough 2026 for five CX300s with options for five more.
  • BETA was selected for seven of the eight eIPP projects, more than any other electric aircraft maker.

Questions people ask

How much does a BETA ALIA flight or aircraft cost?

BETA has not announced a fare or a list price. It sells aircraft to airlines, cargo and medical operators, which will set their own prices. Reports put the electricity cost of its 2025 East Hampton-to-JFK passenger flight at about $7-8, but that is not a ticket price.

When can you ride a BETA ALIA?

Not yet. BETA is certifying the runway-based CX300 first, with the vertical-takeoff A250 to follow, and its first operations are cargo and medical flights. Operators expect to add passengers later, but no passenger service date has been announced.

Do you need a pilot's license to ride a BETA ALIA?

No. Passengers would ride with an operator, and a commercial pilot flies the aircraft.

Has the BETA ALIA actually flown?

Yes. The A250 completed a piloted transition from hover to wing-borne flight in April 2024, the CX300 carried passengers into JFK in June 2025, and BETA's aircraft family has flown more than 190,000 nautical miles, including displays at Farnborough in July 2026.
