Doroni H1-Xprice, release date and specs
Doroni unveiled a full-scale H1-X engineering model at its Dania Beach, Florida, headquarters on 26 March 2026. In September 2026 it signed TLG Aerospace to support engineering and FAA certification under the MOSAIC rule. The H1-X itself has not flown; Doroni targets FAA certification in 2027 and first deliveries in 2028.

Key facts
- Two-seat electric aircraft with ducted fans in a tandem wing, built for private owners rather than air-taxi operators.
- Doroni's earlier H1 demonstrator received an FAA special airworthiness certificate for flight testing in December 2023. Doroni reports more than 70 test flights with its prototypes.
- A full-scale H1-X engineering model was shown publicly on 26 March 2026 with Doroni's SOUL AI digital co-pilot, which is meant to help with navigation and control.
- Doroni reports more than 600 pre-orders at $1,000 each.
- Doroni has missed earlier dates: in 2023 it expected H1 deliveries in 2024, and it now targets 2028.
Price and how to order
Do you need a license to fly the Doroni H1-X?
Doroni says it is seeking FAA light-sport certification under the MOSAIC rule and expects owners to need a Sport Pilot certificate. Its FAQ lists a minimum age of 16, 15 hours of ground training, 5 hours of flight training and an FAA written test. This is not settled: Gleim's summary of the final MOSAIC rule says sport pilots have no path to fly powered-lift aircraft, so a higher certificate could be required if the FAA classes the H1-X as powered-lift. It cannot be a Part 103 ultralight, because it has two seats.

Questions people ask
How much does the Doroni H1-X cost?
Doroni's pre-order page lists an expected price of $400,000, which it says may change. Press reports give a range of $300,000 to $400,000. A $1,000 deposit holds a place in line.
When can you buy the Doroni H1-X?
For now you can only pre-order it. Doroni estimates deliveries will start by 2028. Before then it plans to finish the engineering, flight-test new prototypes and get FAA certification, which its roadmap targets for 2027.
Do you need a pilot's license to fly the Doroni H1-X?
Doroni expects owners to need an FAA Sport Pilot certificate, with about 20 to 25 hours of training. That depends on how the FAA classes the aircraft under the MOSAIC light-sport rule. Published guidance says sport pilots currently cannot fly powered-lift aircraft, so the requirement could end up stricter.
Has the Doroni H1-X actually flown?
Not yet. So far there is only a full-scale engineering model, shown in March 2026. Doroni's earlier H1 demonstrator made its first crewed flight indoors in July 2023, and Doroni reports more than 70 prototype test flights in total.
